YPG

The Young People’s Guild (YPG) of the PCG, Faith Congregation, Madina Estates was founded in December 1991. The Guild first congregated & worshipped at the Gospel International School in Madina Estates. Mr. Kweku Ayeh, then District Organizer of Madina District YPG started the Guild with twenty-eight (28) members made up of six (6) males and twenty-two (22) females. Bro. Isaac Yeboah Debrah, then District Secretary acted as the President.

Rev. Asamoah Prah (of blessed memory), the first Minister in-Charge of the Congregation consistently expounded the benefits of joining the group and encouraged congregants who fell within the age bracket of 18 years to 35 years to join the Guild and participate actively in its programmes.

Bro. Charles Amoafo Gogoe, Bro. Daniel Addison and Sis. Christiana Aniagyei attended the Guild’s first Presbytery Conference held at Abokobi in 1992. To further strengthen it, the Guild was tasked to host the 1992 District Games in June at the Accra Training College (ATTRACO), now Accra College of Education. It was at that gathering that members agreed on Sundays after Church Service and Thursdays, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. as meeting times for the Guild. Again, in 1993, the Guild was called upon to host the District Delegates’ Conference. The Guild was eventually inaugurated in September 1997.

The following constituted the first team of elected Officers of the Guild;

Victor Asenso – President
Kenneth Opoku Sarkodie – Vice President
Caroline Carl – Secretary

The Guild has over the years organized power packed programmes like the Annual Prayer Conference (an all-night prayer programme), Jabulani (Music Festival), Excursions, ‘Rep Ur Club’ (sporting activity), among others. The YPG has been very influential in the activities of the Church.

The current Patrons of the Guild are Rev. Roy Asiamah (Resident Minister), Mrs. Mary Ofori-Offei, Mrs. Florence Odoi & Ms. Lena Ayebea Nyinaku. The numerical strength of the Guild has grown remarkably and it now boasts over 180 members, by the grace of God. At present, the YPG meets on Mondays (7pm-8:30pm) & Wednesdays (7pm-8pm).

Faith YPG is recognised as one of the most active and vibrant local Guilds in the Madina District. Consequently, a good number of District Executives have emerged from Faith YPG with the immediate past Financial & General Secretaries of the District YPG being members of our Guild. The current President also doubles as the President’s Representative at the District Executive Committee

The Guild has been heavily represented at Programmes, Meetings, Games, Quizzes and other activities of the Madina District. In 2017, it won both the District Games & Quiz. The Quiz contestants, Sisters Benecia Serwah Bonsu & Sandra Addae proceeded to pick the 2nd Position at the Presbytery level. Faith YPG has also produced an executive member of the Ga Presbytery, an unprecedented feat, in the person of Sis. Victoria Opokua Akomeah who is the Ga Presbytery Assistant Secretary.

As we celebrate our Silver Jubilee as a Congregation, the YPG wishes to congratulate the founding members and successive leaders of our Church who have continued to nurture the young members of the Guild to serve their maker diligently in the days of their youth.

Happy 25th Anniversary!
